Roof replacement jobs are pretty standard across the board, but unless you are in the trade, you might not know the exact process.
The first step is to always have a professional inspect the roof to see if you really are in need of a roof replacement. Our sales representatives at Armor Shield Exteriors can perform a free inspection of the roof to determine the extent of the damage to the roof. During the inspection is when our sales representative will be available to go over the process with you in detail and answer any questions you may have. The sales representative then takes all the information back to the office and we schedule a date to start the job.
The next step is the actual roof replacement. Our project manager has all the materials and the dumpster delivered to the home early in the morning and our crew gets to work soon after. At Armor Shield Exteriors, we use all Owens Corning Products on our roofs.
Our crew starts every job by tarping the home to prevent any debris damage during the removal of the old roof and installing the new roof. Once the old shingles are removed, our crew installs new sheets of plywood as needed on the home. When installing the new roof, we follow the Total Protection Roofing System's three layers: Seal, Defend, Breathe.
Seal: This layer is installed on the home to create a water-proof barrier. These layers help block any water-related weather from damaging the roof. The Owens Corning Ice & Water Barriers protects the roof where water builds up (i.e around the chimney, vents, and skylights) and the Owens Corning Underlayements helps to block the water and prevents mold or water damage from forming.
Defend: This layer is the star of the show. It adds that layer of defense between your home and the weather while adding a beautiful new look, which can ultimately change the look of your home! Our crew installs a Starter Strip to prep the home before installing the new shingles. You, the homeowner, has the ability to choose what color shingles you would like on your home. When meeting with the sales representative, they can go over the different options offered or you can click here to view them now. The shingles on your home act as a layer of defense against the weather and also build the character of your home. Your roof is one of the first things people notice when they look at your home, so why not make sure it is the best shape possible?
Breath: The final layer allows for ventilation through your home and attic. The ventilation strips help to allow fresh air from entering and leaving your attic without leaving any heat or moisture behind. Heat and moisture buildup can lead to ice damming, roof deterioration, or even mold. It is important to install the ventilation strips to avoid problems in the future.
